Although not appropriate for everyone, Medical Cannabis can help relieve symptoms of many conditions. Check out the NH Therapeutic Cannabis Program for a list of qualifying diagnoses and forms. https://www.dhhs.nh.gov/programs-services/population-health/therapeutic-cannabis
No. You will need to see a provider that can sign the qualifying paperwork. If you need help finding a provider please email and Kelly may be able to help connect you with a provider.
CannaCare RN offers Education and Consultations to Cannabis patients as well as healthcare providers.
Cannabis Nursing was recognized as a specialty by the American Nurse's Association in 2023. The Cannabis Nurse can bridge the gap between provider and Alternative Treatment Center (ATC). Cannabis Nurses can assess your medical history and current medications, along with your desired outcomes of using Medical Cannabis, to create a personalized care plan for you.
Kelly has been a Registered Nurse since 2013, and a Medical Cannabis patient since 2019. Kelly graduated from Pacific College of Health and Wellness with a Certificate in Medical Cannabis Care for the Healthcare Professional. This certificate program was an 8 credit program and was 6 months long. At this time there is no national certification for this, but it is being worked on and we may see certification in the next couple of years.
You don't NEED a Cannabis Nurse. This is an option to make sure that you are choosing the right kind of Cannabis, and checking to see if the Cannabis will alter the medications you take. Consulting with a Cannabis Nurse can save you time and money figuring out what works best for you.
The Budtenders at the ATC/dispensaries are extremely knowledgeable about the products they sell. But, they have no clinical background so they can not assess your medications for any potential drug interactions, and they lack the formal education to assess and educate patients. Although not directly in the Dispensary, the Cannabis Nurse works in conjunction with the dispensary staff to help you find just the right products for you.
No. Unfortunately insurance does not cover anything to do with Medical Cannabis. Hopefully someday it will!
There are many different cannabinoids in the cannabis plant, the most common being THC and CBD. Working with you, Kelly can create a personalized care plan focusing on non-impairing cannabinoids, or a plan to cut down on that high feeling.
Absolutely not. Kelly's goal is to create a personalized care plan, keeping doses as low as possible to help find symptom relief, with the least amount of undesired side effects.
No, but you'll gain knowledge that will help when you visit the ATC/dispensary.
